Today a co-worker was talking about buying her son a laptop for his birthday and she really wants to get him a MAC because they are less likely to contract a virus. Then we got to talking a little bit about viruses. I was telling her something someone had told me once about why Mac's don't get viruses... I'm not sure it's true, but the person who told me really sold it. Anyway they told me that in order to write a virus for a computer, you have to completely take the computer apart in order to figure out how to write the virus.
Well, PCs are pretty cheap in cost and it doesn't cost much to buy a new one, take it a part and start writing. However a new MAC you can get for less than $1000 and that's a little more costly to buy, and completely disassemble, not to mention the higher security "things" MAC has.
So then, we started to discuss how ridiculous they are in the first place. Do hackers have NOTHING better to do than sit around take apart computers and write viruses, for what purpose?? WTH HACKERS???? I have to tell you, if you are a hacker and you are that BORED please e-mail me. I have plenty of things you could be doing instead of ruining people's days. Let's face it, money has always been precious, but even more these days, with our economy the way it is.... can you sleep at night knowing you just ruined 100's or 1,000's of people's days, weeks or months, because of a virus you had to write?
Just seems so EXTREMELY selfish to me, and it makes me sad to think that there are so many selfish people out there who are partaking in something as harmful as computer viruses.
Anyway, that's my WTH for today!!
Ahh... a place to write about things you can't believe happen, "What the Heck". Day to Day, Sports, Religion, Politics... Whatever.

WTH Adult Trick or treater's
Ok here's one for you. I know you are all thinking it, but I am just going to say it! Parents, Halloween is for kids! Not 6' 1 adults caring around a pillow case for candy. There are two types of adult trick or treater's.
There are the adults who walk their kids around and have the GUTS to stick out their pillow case for candy, you all know the type! WTH, really? You need to trick or treat for your own supply of candy? As if your kid isn't going to get enough to carry him/her for months. Why not teach your kids of the art of "sharing" and share their candy instead. Trust me, it will prevent you from being the talk at the water cooler or on some crazy persons blog the next day. It's just not right.
Then, there is the adult that is trick or treating for their 1 month old who is passed out in the carrier in the stroller. Really? You are going to physically feed your tiny baby candy, really? And they always tell you, as though it's helping them not look silly, "oh, this is for the baby..." Yeah, sure it is, your better off just holding the bag out for yourself. Leave the poor baby out of it. It's CLEARLY for you.
I lied, there is one more type of adult trick or treater's. These are the adults who come around in a group of 2-3 and actually say trick or treat at your door. While this is much more rare, it still happens!! If you really need candy that bad, here's an idea, go to Sam's club, shell out $10 for one of those giant mixed bags of candy and save your self the embarrassment. Is it really worth it??
Happy Halloween - that's my "WTH" for Thursday!

WTH Favre
How I spent my lunch brake today... I had a nice bowl of chili and some Internet surfing about last nights game, the Packers and Vikings. Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE football, and that I have also always loved Brett Favre, and always LOVED the Packers!
When Favre first retired, I was bummed out, in fact, I may have cried (just like whne Gretzky retired). But thought, good for him, I only hope he stays retired! (Another pet peeve of mine is when athletes retire only to come right back - ugh.. that's a story for another day). Anyway, he came back only to become a New York Jet. What, a Jet, REALLY? WTH Brett... But that's old news, we already know how long that lasted, a season. Then, he talked about retiring again, but just before he made it official.... he had been traded to come right back as a VIKING! By this time, I was so over him. There was so much up and down with him, year after year... I mean, I had the memories of him playing as a Packer and I was even able to see him play his last game as a Packer... and leaving the Pack in 2008 holding several records including most wins, yards, completions, and touchdowns.
Don't get me wrong, he had a great year last year, and I was pulling for him in a way... Favre is what I call a "Squeezer" he's always trying to squeeze in something else... one more pass, one more year, one more interception. Maybe it's time to stop Favre. Stop trying to squeeze anything else in, I think you have "squeezed" yourself out! Desmond Bishop said (regarding last nights game) “It was just kind of typical Favre, trying to squeeze something in, but it wasn’t there, and I just took advantage of it.”
Here is what Favre said about last nights game, “It’ll be tough to get over this loss as it’s tough to get over any loss, but we have to find a way to do it and the reality is if I can play but not be effective, then it’s not worth playing,” Favre said. I can understand it would be hard to stop doing something you LOVE to do, it would be hard to STOP doing something you have done for almost your WHOLE life... but Favre, I love you man, but hang it up. Make this your last year. You have a family that loves you, don't keep setting yourself for "one more". Please don't try and "SQUEEZE" another year out.
I think for some athletes, it's possible to get addicted to so many things, I bet there is a lot to get addicted too; the money, the love from the fans, the women, the over all fame, recreational beverages and "candy" aka drugs, the drive to want to be better, and better and better. And I think the last one is a silent killer for most. Instead of taking in what God has given to them, they always want more, like many of us! And in Brett's case, I don't believe that he wanted anything more than just being better (overall). Brett - you own SO MANY NFL RECORDS, be thankful and move on. Go live the rest of your life - there is more out there than football.

WTH Big Boy!
Ah... it was 10/23, 5AM and we were out the door to drop Cal off at his aunt and uncles house. He would be spending the day and night with them as Chris and I head off to WI for a wedding. Once we were on the road, we had decided to find somewhere along the way for breakfast. As 6:30 was fast approaching, so were the hunger pains in my stomach. I needed to stop somewhere, soon!!
Chris told me to start watching for signs - I wanted a sit down place, no fast food. So, before I knew it, within minutes we were pulling off an exit just outside of Ann Arbor and pulling into a Big Boy - Yum! Breakfast bar. The time, 6:40 AM. We pull into the parking lot, and it's odd, there were only two cars in the lot. Chris had said "Is it possible they aren't open?" I was thinking and said out loud "Ah, no, it's Saturday morning, breakfast places open early, no way they aren't open, they have a breakfast bar for crying out loud."
Hello Big Boy, you don't open until 7AM, REALLY??? You are the only sit down restaurant off this exit, it's clearly an exit for travelers to use for gas and food and you don't open until 7AM? Really? You are known for a little thing called your 'breakfast bar' - I think you should really rethink your open time.
So, I had to wait another 20 minutes or so until we reached Jackson - we ended up at the Cracker Barrel. Oh well.... it filled me up and I was able then to get a morning nap in while Chris drove.
Bottom line, on Saturday/Sunday mornings at best, restaurants should really look at their hours of operation. Especially ones that are know for something like a "Breakfast Bar."
