Today a co-worker was talking about buying her son a laptop for his birthday and she really wants to get him a MAC because they are less likely to contract a virus. Then we got to talking a little bit about viruses. I was telling her something someone had told me once about why Mac's don't get viruses... I'm not sure it's true, but the person who told me really sold it. Anyway they told me that in order to write a virus for a computer, you have to completely take the computer apart in order to figure out how to write the virus.
Well, PCs are pretty cheap in cost and it doesn't cost much to buy a new one, take it a part and start writing. However a new MAC you can get for less than $1000 and that's a little more costly to buy, and completely disassemble, not to mention the higher security "things" MAC has.
So then, we started to discuss how ridiculous they are in the first place. Do hackers have NOTHING better to do than sit around take apart computers and write viruses, for what purpose?? WTH HACKERS???? I have to tell you, if you are a hacker and you are that BORED please e-mail me. I have plenty of things you could be doing instead of ruining people's days. Let's face it, money has always been precious, but even more these days, with our economy the way it is.... can you sleep at night knowing you just ruined 100's or 1,000's of people's days, weeks or months, because of a virus you had to write?
Just seems so EXTREMELY selfish to me, and it makes me sad to think that there are so many selfish people out there who are partaking in something as harmful as computer viruses.
Anyway, that's my WTH for today!!
